Terms of Service

The deal, in plain words

These terms apply when you use EkPraat!, on the web or in the Android app. By creating an account or buying a plan you agree to them. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should read them with you and agree on your behalf.

Who we are

EkPraat! is an Afrikaans learning app for South African learners, published by CJX Studio. Questions about these terms, your account or a payment go to support@ekpraat.co.za.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens on your account. Give a real email address so we can reach you about your account and payments. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete Account, or through the account-deletion form. Deleting removes your progress permanently.

Free use

The free version includes a set of lessons, hearts that refill over time, and ads. Hearts, gems, XP, streaks and other in-app items have no money value, cannot be exchanged for money and cannot be transferred to another account.

Paid plans

We offer Starter, Exam Ready and Marks Booster, each billed monthly or yearly. The price, what the plan includes and how often you are billed are shown on the plan screen before you pay. Every paid plan removes ads and gives unlimited hearts.

Plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. In the Android app, payment and renewal are handled by Google Play Billing; on the web, by PayFast. We never see or store your card details.

Free trials

Some plans start with a free trial. The plan screen tells you how long it lasts and the date billing starts. If you do not cancel before that date, the plan continues as a paid subscription and you are charged. Each account gets one trial.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time. Plans bought in the Android app are cancelled in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions; plans bought on the web are cancelled in Settings in the app. When you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again.

Refunds

Purchases made through Google Play are refunded according to Google Play’s refund policy; you can request one from Google Play. For web purchases, email support@ekpraat.co.za if you were charged in error. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under South Africa’s Consumer Protection Act or the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, including the cooling-off period for online purchases.

Learning content and AI help

We work hard to make lessons accurate and in line with the school curriculum, but EkPraat! is a study aid. It does not guarantee a particular mark or exam result, and it does not replace your teacher. Some features use AI to explain answers or grade written work; AI can make mistakes, so treat its feedback as guidance. You can report a wrong or unsuitable AI answer inside the app.

Fair use

Please do not cheat the leaderboard, use bots or scripts, try to get paid content without paying, copy or resell our lessons, or use names or messages that are offensive. We may remove offensive names, reset unfairly earned XP, or suspend accounts that break these rules.

Ours and yours

The lessons, questions, artwork, sounds and the app itself belong to CJX Studio or the people who license them to us. You may use them for your own learning. Your answers and progress are yours; see the Privacy Policy for how we handle them.

When things go wrong

We aim to keep EkPraat! running, but it may sometimes be unavailable or have bugs. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. This does not limit any liability that South African law does not allow us to limit.

Changes and the law

If we change these terms we will update this page and the date at the top, and tell you in the app before a material change affects a paid plan. These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.

This page is the public terms-of-service URL for the app, the Google Play listing and PayFast. Update it whenever plans, prices, trials or cancellation rules change.
